Amy Rees Anderson Named UVEF's 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year

Annual UVEF Awards Recognize Exemplary Contributions to the Entrepreneurial Community from Utah Companies and Leaders

SALT LAKE CITY (December 13, 2013) - REES Capital, a "mentor capital" firm that provides consulting services and angel capital to start-up and high-growth companies, today announced that Amy Rees Anderson, company founder and managing partner, has been named the Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum's (UVEF) 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year.

The annual UVEF Awards recognize Utah companies and leaders for innovation, business growth, and contributions to the entrepreneurial community. For nearly nine years Anderson was CEO of MediConnect Global, one of the largest cloud-based health information exchanges, and while under her direction the company grew revenues by more than 1,500 percent and employed more than 1,000 people worldwide. In March 2012, Anderson sold the company to Verisk Analytics for over $377 million. In October 2012, Anderson founded REES Capital, which was created to provide entrepreneurs and business executives critical guidance and support to help their companies grow.

Also in 2012, Anderson and her husband cofounded the IPOP Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization established to promote, educate and perpetuate entrepreneurship as a pathway to self-reliance, self-confidence and selfless giving. Earlier this year, the IPOP Foundation held its inaugural IPOP Mobile App Idea Competition, a contest that challenges high school students to come up with an idea for a new mobile app for an opportunity to win scholarship money. Additionally, Anderson contributes to the entrepreneurial community by writing a daily blog - www.amyreesanderson.com/blog - with insights and advice on investing and entrepreneurship, and contributes regularly to Forbes.

"I am honored that the UVEF has recognized me with this prestigious award, and I am grateful to them for the support and encouragement they provide to entrepreneurs throughout the state of Utah," said Anderson. "Utah's business-friendly environment helps foster a spirit of entrepreneurship that continues to produce new and innovative companies, and I love having the opportunity to support other entrepreneurs the way so many have done for me."

“Anderson was presented with the award at the UVEF Annual Entrepreneur Awards Luncheon on December 12, 2013 at the Zion's Bank Tower in Provo, Utah
