SALT LAKE CITY (December 10, 2012) – REES Capital, a “mentor capital” firm that provides consulting services and angel capital to start-up and high-growth companies, today announced that Dave Chidester, former senior vice president of finance at MediConnect Global, has joined the company as a partner.
With more than 15 years experience overseeing the overall financial standing of multiple fast-growing companies, Chidester will bring a unique expertise to REES Capital portfolio companies. REES (Recognizing & Empowering Entrepreneurial Success) Capital was created to provide critical guidance and support to entrepreneurs and business executives by providing expert mentoring and consulting services across a broad range of business functions. This includes services that fall under Chidester’s expertise, such as financial modeling, internal reporting, strategic planning, acquisition and exit strategy, capital management, and other key functions.
“We are thrilled to have Dave join the firm as a partner,” said Amy Rees Anderson, managing partner at REES Capital. “Dave brings exceptional expertise from his time at MediConnect Global and from his prior experience at Overstock.com. He has deep knowledge in growing companies, taking them public, and negotiating successful exits. The companies we work with will benefit tremendously from his guidance as he shares the skills, insight and knowledge he has used to bring about success for the companies he has been affiliated with in the past.”
While serving as senior vice president of finance at MediConnect, Chidester was responsible for guiding the company’s financial strategy and operations, including financial reporting, planning and forecasting, treasury, and capital management. Chidester also played an integral role in the $377.8 million sale of MediConnect to Verisk Analytics in March 2012. Prior to that position, Chidester spent more than 10 years at Overstock.com – including five years as CFO – where he helped direct the company’s finance operations as the company grew its annual revenues from just $2 million to almost $900 million. He was also involved in taking Overstock.com public and in raising more than $400 million of capital through stock and debt offerings.
“This is a very exciting new venture and I couldn’t be happier to once again be working with Amy and the rest of the team at REES Capital,” said Chidester. “I look forward to being able to help both new and growing businesses find their footing and assist them in the execution of their financial operations, strategy and capital management. These are all areas that can be challenging to manage in both start-up and high-growth environments, but are key to ultimately achieving financial success.”
A licensed CPA, Dave has a BS in accounting and an MBA from the University of Utah. He also currently serves as an advisory board member for the University of Utah School of Accounting.
